Did you know that nuclear power provides a substantial economic benefit to North and South Carolina?

When you employee thousands of people it’s not just about contributing to a diverse energy mix – nuclear power plants play vital roles in the economic health of the communities they serve. Duke Energy’s six nuclear plants accounted for more than $280 million in property and payroll taxes in 2022. Nuclear and supplemental workers also spend money in the community and donate their time to support local causes.

Additionally, the number of workers at our plants can double during planned refueling and maintenance outages, giving communities an extra economic boost.
