For decades, the Duke Energy nuclear fleet has been a dedicated environmental steward. From preserving land for public recreation, to maintaining healthy forests and protecting sea turtles, our nuclear sites have become caretakers of the land, water and wildlife around them. Part of that role includes educating local communities about the environment and the importance of protecting it.
To commemorate Earth Day this year, the EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station hosted an inaugural Earth Day event for homeschool students. Despite the rain, more than 45 students and parents learned about local wildlife, composting and gardening through hands-on activities from Duke Energy and local environmental organizations.
