Why Working Safely Matters

Many people depend on our nuclear workers every day - friends, family, co-workers, customers - and working safely is essential to consistently and efficiently provide the power others rely on.

U.S. nuclear energy facilities are among the safest in the world for many reasons, including strict regulation and oversight by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, buildings designed with multiple automatic safety systems and experienced, highly-trained personnel, to name a few.

However, the most important safety feature at a nuclear plant is a culture that prioritizes safety above all else. Developing a strong safety culture takes more than just sound policies, though. It requires every individual taking responsibility for working safely and encouraging others to do the same.
